JPMC was brought in by the client to manage a "problem" project that had been in progress for six months but was not delivering the required benefits for the end users, the Customer Support Team, who were split across the US, UK and Singapore.

The project was developing a bespoke administration tool for the management of customer access to an online library and was being delivered by teams in the UK and Singapore using an agile development methodology.

JPMC helped to re-plan the project and ensured that key stakeholders became re-engaged to support the delivery of the solution. In addition, JPMC provided management of the UK and Singapore based agile teams, managing the two week development iterations (sprints) and associated planning and retrospective meetings.

JPMC initially provided PMO  consultancy and implemented improvements to address key issues raised during an audit of a large transformation programme. In addition to creating improved risk and issues management strategies and processes, clear benefits maps were created to show how benefits associated with individual requirements in the product backlog could be tracked through to realisation.

As the engagement progressed JPMC provided Programme Management consultancy and helped to restructure the programme to improve the delivery of projects and benefits. This included helping to recruit Project Managers, Business Analysts, User Experience Designers and a User Acceptance Test Lead to mitigate key programme risks.

JPMC also managed the delivery of a project to develop the new Digital Waste Online solution which was developed offshore in India by an external supplier. JPMC provided agile project management skills to ensure the effective delivery of the project using a SCRUM based iterative development model.

Initially brought in to provide project management services on a £12m Programme to deliver a replacement for a business critical IT system, JPMC  provided inputs into the selection of a third party development partner from a short list of six companies. This included reviewing the bidding companies' proposals and attending site visits to assess their relative strengths and weaknesses.

The supplier that was selected was an Indian company that planned to deliver the new system using their offshore development capability. JPMC provided key inputs to the contract negotiations with the resulting contract based around the delivery of function points, offering incentives to the supplier for good performance but also significantly protecting the client if the supplier did not deliver to clearly specified criteria.
